Steps to becoming an AR of SAN

What are the steps to becoming an Authorised Representative (AR) of SMSF Advisers Network (SAN)?

The time it will take you to operate under our licence depends on your situation.

For existing advisers who were listed on the ASIC financial adviser register between 1 January 2016 and 1 January 2019
The steps to becoming authorised
1 Complete the Online Application Form for the SMSF Advisers Network (SAN)
2 Submit your application with all relevant supporting documentation
3 We process your application and organise an initial phone interview and/or previous AFSL check
4 After the interview and with your permission, we will conduct a Police Check and Bankruptcy Check. As we do not have control over the processing times of these applications, please allow up to 4 weeks
5 When we receive the confirmation of the checks above we will send you your Authorised Representative (AR) agreement(s)
6 Upon receiving the signed agreements we will contact you to determine a date from which you will be registered with ASIC under the SMSF Advisers Network (SAN) AFSL

Please be aware that due to the new FASEA education requirements, we cannot appoint any new entrants with ASIC until November 2019.

All new advisers, who were not listed on the ASIC adviser register between 1 January 2016 and 1 January 2019, must hold an approved degree prior to applying with SAN.

All new entrants must also be undertaking their supervised professional year and pass an exam, prior to being appointed with SAN.

For the list of approved degrees, and for more information about professional years, please visit www.fasea.gov.au
